Hello Everyone,
Sorry for not updating the church's blog site in a while, but frankly I did not know how to blog. It would be stereotyping to assume that because my generation was raised with computers, that we all know how to use them well. I am most defiantly proof that argues against assumption.
Anyways, after asking one of our youth, I am now up to date on the latest blogging technology. Okay, maybe not, but I do know how to post now, so I should at least be able to keep it up to date.
As October comes to a close, it is reminding us that winter is soon around the corner, as it snows pretty heavily outside. I hope everyone enjoyed the short fall we had, or did not have up here. I guess Stacia and I will get to experience what it really means to be Canadian very soon. I guess we will have to start plugging the car in soon.
Both Stacia and I have enjoyed our first few months here in Prince Albert. It does not seem like 2 months could have come and gone so quickly, but they have.
Stacia and I will be trick or canning (we ask for can foods instead of candy, then we donate it to a food bank) with the youth here at Gateway. I will not lie to you, I really could not find anything to make a good costume. So, I had to go out and buy one. I feel like such an impostor. Growing up creating your costume was half the fun, but I guess as you get older your wardrobe does not have the same variety it use to. Then, it is hard to find a costume which is approprate for wearing around the kids and representing the church to the community. So when all else fails, you go as a monk. I wish I was truely a dedicated Trick or treater, but I am not, otherwise I would have shaved my head like a monk to complete the costume. I would venture to guess Canandian monks never shaved their heads. They probably had to grow their hair out to stay warm. Who knows. Anyways, if you see us coming to your house have your can goods ready to go. Hope you all have a good Halloween, and a great All Saints Day as well.

Ahh, Summer. The extended version
We have much to celebrate up here in the 'North'!
First, summer is truly upon us and we shall dance for joy - basically because in a few very short months we'll be shoveling snow - and for that reason we love all the hot days we can get.
Also though, we are really happy to have our new Pastors, Seth and Stacia Michael starting with us, today actually!!
Welcome to both of you.
May God bless you richly.
May His face shine upon you.
May your ministry here be one of deep spiritual growth for all those who attend here. We hope that we, your first church will fully support you during this exciting time.
And may you learn to love the Riders.
Oh and by the way, if you are around this Sunday (Labour Day weekend) you are invited to drop by and share a potluck lunch with us following the morning service.

August Speakers at Gateway
Here comes August and hopefully the hot weather will continue.
At Gateway we are currently experiencing a selection of various guest speakers in our pulpit each Sunday, in the absence of a senior Pastor. But that's okay because we continue to be challenged by such gifted and willing servants of God.
Our thanks go out to all of you who have been so willing to minister to us.
The schedule for the Sundays in August looks like this:
02 Grace McKenzie
09 Jake Rempel - we will also celebrate Holy Communion today16 Jake Rempel
23 Howard Rensberry
31 tba
If you're in town on any one of these days and are interested in dropping by, we'd love to have you worship with us!
September 1st will see our new Pastors, Stacia and Seth Michael joining us. Their first Sunday will be Sept. 06
Plan to be there!

Ahh, Summer. Time.
I haven't posted in a while. Now that the summer is upon us and I am (supposedly) in holiday mode I thought I would contribute. Not that I have scads of time on my hands. Au contraire! I am still getting up early-ish in the morning and staying up way too late to balance that out.
No, I wouldn't say that being 'at home' instead of 'at work' is any less-busy, but time-off allows us to shift the daily routine around a bit. Physically, relationally, mentally, spiritually even.
Now everyone has 'should' lists but so often there are too many of those still waiting to be completed. I like to think it's that life-stuff that really can be just as important as The 'S' List. In fact, the 'shoulds' intertwine with the life.
I'm not attempting to be super-woman, neither am I looking to favour anyone. But I do believe that when motivated by love, people are encouraged. When we do life-things and God uses our gifts, our talents and even our pain, restoration and life takes root. The life-stuff becomes life-giving. For everyone.
Will I look any different come fall?
Will it matter if I didn't check off everything on my to-do list?
Will I even feel rested and ready to go back to the work routine?
I really have no idea, but I hope that whatever I end up doing; whomever I come into contact with, I will be changed and at a different part of the journey than when I began.
And others will have experienced life in their journeys.
May your summer find you moving along your journey towards restoration and wholeness.

And before I get a comment from my husband that would have something to do with siding our house, which HAS to be done, I'd like to qualify the statement by saying, "you are doing a great job with that dear!"
This summer I plan to do a whole bunch of 'life' things; visiting the sick, having coffee, calling friends, working in the yard, making food, having company, helping to get our new pastors moved in, even putting up the occasional piece of siding...and that list goes on.I'm not attempting to be super-woman, neither am I looking to favour anyone.
